Movie Review:
Shikhar is an Indian film released in 2005 and the film had been produced and directed by John Matthew Matthan. This was the second film directed by him and also the film had made Bollywood debut of the Pakistani actor Javed Shiekh. The director of the film had made his debut with the hit film Sarfarosh which was released in 1999.
The story of the film revolves around Gaurav Gupta (Ajay Devgan) a.k.a “G.G” who is an industrialist from Mumbai. Gaurav wants to build a new city. The land for his project is owned by Guru Srinath Vardhan (Javed Sheikh), a former industrialist, who retired and now leads a calm, spiritual life in his ashram. G.G., on the other hand, needs this portion of land, for his project called "Golden Gate", otherwise, he'll become penniless. Srinath Vardhan, however, has a son, Jaidev "Jai" Vardhan (Shahid Kapoor) who travels to Mumbai - and meets there Natasha (Bipasha Basu), G.G.'s girlfriend.
G.G. and his girlfriend Natasha provided Jai with all the comforts in Mumbai and inspite of warnings from his childhood lover Madhavi (Amrita Rao) Jai becomes careless and G.G. knows his chance to get his piece of land with Jai's help. Approximately too late, Jai realizes what he has done - he not only pushed away his father, but also Madhavi and is in the process to deceive his father's dream. He swears to recover his mistakes and creates lot of promotion: that an industrialist is about to wipe out a holy ashram only for the sake of greed and profit and G.G. in the end, has to give up his project and the ashram is saved.
