Synopsis of The Killer:
Movie Review: Adapting an English Hindi film is not a big deal. Every director has unique way of explaining a story and it always proves to be a new experience because most of the Indian audience may not have watched the original source of the movie. The movie ‘The Killer’ is derived from the Enlish movie Collateral released in 2004. the story of a taxi driver and a hit man and the sequence of murders in one night haven’t been seen before in the Hindi cinema which increases the expectations for the movie to hit the box office.

Moreover an impressive plot, The Killer appeals, to a large extent, thanks to the chemistry between Emraan Hashmi and Irrfan Khan. In fact, the cat-and-mouse game they treat in keeps you on the edge right till the penultimate reel. The series between the two actors are the core of this enterprise.

Unlike Collateral, which got dark and disappointing at times, debutante directors Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala have guaranteed that The Killer provides to the Indian tastes. The discussions between Emraan and Irrfan could've turned into a serious and dark alley, but luckily turns out to be lively, appealing, smart and packed with wit and humor. The director pair strikes a fine balance between serious and funny, tense and comforting moments.

Yet, this shouldn't mean that The Killer is devoid of flaws. There are hiccups, but the fast pacing and crisp editing conceal the flaws in the writing section. The impact in the end is what ultimately matters, not the speed breakers on the way!

Some moments when lived throughout, will change you forever. Nikhil Joshi (Emraan Hashmi) is a young theatrical who has gone to Dubai, and dreams of making it big out there. Nevertheless, in the movie we see that Evan's U-Turn is too much for his little enthusiasm. At present however, he is a cabbie, and is deeply in love with a bar dancer Ria (Nisha Kothari). So obsessed is he, that he is willing to do anything for his love – even DIE.

On the other hand, life has other plans for him when one night, a sophisticated businessman Vikram (Irrfan Khan), hails his taxicab. Joshi discovers that this nice passenger has a plan of his own and a rather aggressive one at that. Vikram holds Joshi hostage in a weird plot to assassinate different people who would give evidence against the feared don Jabbar, who is at risk of being deported to India to face charges against him.

As Nikhil forcefully becomes eyewitness to one killing after another, he finds his life and dreams dissolution around him. Faced with the vision of losing everything he has been working towards, he finally takes control of the steering wheel of his life. He stops dreaming and starts acting, as he begins to pit his wits against the killer.

The music of the film which provided by the famous music duo Sajid-Wajid is nice and certainly not in league with Bhatt brothers prior to films such as Raaz, Murder and Gangster. Cinematography is first-rate. The lensman has captured the attractive locales of Dubai with prosper. Dialogues, especially the banter between Emraan and Irrfan, are excellent.

As far as performances concerned, Emraan is satisfactory in the beginning but comes in form when he begins facing Irrfan. Irrfan is splendid all through. The eccentric character has been portrayed with gusto by the actor. His dialogues, at places, will be greeted with a thunderous applause. Especially his breaking into the song 'Zara Saamne To Aao Chhaliye' in the mall [climax].

Nisha Kothari doesn't get a chance to show affected behavior, but displays her anatomy however. She is sure to send the masses into raptures in the 'Abhi To Main Jawaan Hoon' track. Zakir Hussain is dominant in that single scene. Avtar Gill and Bharti Achrekar are adequate. Overall, The Killer is an interesting fare that should appeal to lovers of thrillers. At the box-office, its restrained pricing coupled with decent merits should help the film sail safe.

Song lyrics:
phirta rahoon dar badar
milta nahi tera nishaan
hoke judaa kab main jiya
tu hai kahaan main kahaan
teri yaadon mein khoya rehta hoon
mujhko dasti hai tanhaaiyan
phirta rahoon dar badar
milta nahi tera nishaan
hoke judaa kab main jiya
tu hai kahaan main kahaan

tu jo judaa ho gayi
teri sadaa kho gayi
dekh le phir zindagi
haa kya se kya ho gayi
jab se bichdi hoon
rab se kehti hoon
kitna suna hai tera jahaan
phirta rahoon dar badar
milta nahi tera nishaan
hoke judaa kab main jiya
tu hai kahaan main kahaan

kaise kate zindagi maayusi bebasi
raahen sabhi kho gayi
roshani de roshani
main toh rehti hoon teri raahon mein
bekhabar mujhko dhunde kahaan
phirta rahoon dar badar
milta nahi tera nishaan
hoke judaa kab main jiya
tu hai kahaan main kahaan
teri yaadon mein khoya rehta hoon
mujhko dasti hai tanhaaiyan
