Synopsis of Gulzar:
Gulzar is one of the most famous Indian lyricists. He was born on 18 August 1936. His real name was Sampooran Singh Kalra but he is known for his pen name Gulzar. He has written songs in many languages of India.

He started his career with the film Bandini in the year 1963 which music was composed by SD Burman. He wrote the song Mora Gora And Layle which was picturized on Nutan. He has his best work with RD Burman in the movies Parichay, Kushboo, Ijaazat and Masoom. He wrote the famous song Tere Bina Zindgi se Koi Shikwa in the film Aandhi which was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. The famous Ghazal Tujhe Naraz Nahi Zindgi was also written by Gulzar.

On the other hand he has had award-winning associations with Salil Chowdhury (for the movie "Anand"), Madan Mohan ("Mausam"), and more recently with Vishal Bhardwaj ("Maachis"), A. R. Rahman ("Dil Se", "Guru") and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy ("Bunty aur Babli"). He has also honored with Padma Bhushan in the year 2004. Gulzar and his movies have won many awards at the National level including awards for best director and best lyrics. He also won the 2002 Sahitya Akademi Award for 'Dhuan', a collection of Urdu short stories.

He has introduced a new style of writing poems called Triveni which comprises stanzas comprising three lines rhyming with each other. His private album "Koi Baat Chale" with Ghazal expert Jagjit Singh has all the songs written in Triveni.
